VRV/F Service Technician

At Kalos Services, we believe in doing things the right way—even when it’s harder. We’re looking for an experienced VRF/VRV HVAC Technician who knows how to install, commission, and service modern variable refrigerant systems with confidence and precision. If you take pride in your work, enjoy problem-solving, and want to grow with a company that respects your expertise, we want to hear from you.

Job Type & Schedule

  • Field-based role — candidate must be comfortable working on rooftops, mechanical rooms, and in occupied commercial spaces
  • Variable shifts

Compensation

  • $25-35 hourly based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis on multi-zone VRV/VRF systems (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.)
  • Conduct system performance verification, including checking inverter compressor operation, EEV functionality, and pressure/temperature relationships
  • Accurately interpret wiring diagrams and perform low/high voltage troubleshooting
  • Commission new VRV systems and verify factory start-up procedures are completed to spec
  • Utilize manufacturer-specific tools and software (Daikin Service Checker, Mitsubishi Maintenance Tool, LG LGMV, etc.)
  • Analyze operational data from service tools to identify abnormal operation, refrigerant imbalance, or control logic failures
  • Execute refrigerant circuit service work, including leak detection, evacuation, charging by weight/subcool/superheat, and component replacement
  • Interpret and follow service bulletins, technical manuals, and engineering documentation
  • Document detailed service reports with recommendations and corrective actions taken
  • Collaborate with technical leads and project managers to resolve ongoing or complex issues in the field

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of VRV/VRF operation and architecture (heat recovery, heat pump, branch selector boxes, control logic)
  • Proficient with manufacturer-specific diagnostic software and tools
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (including 3-phase, inverter boards, sensors, and communication wiring)
  • Knowledge of pressure/temperature enthalpy relationships and system balancing
  • Understanding of control strategies for both cooling/heating and defrost sequences
  • Ability to identify software vs. hardware failures in the field
  • Familiarity with refrigerant flow control and piping configuration (including oil return and elevation considerations)
  • Experience with indoor and outdoor board/component replacement
  • Comfort working independently on active systems with high expectations for performance

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of experience servicing VRV/VRF systems in commercial environments
  • Factory training or certification from major manufacturers (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.)
  • Proven ability to interpret and analyze service tool data
  • Experience supporting building engineers or facilities managers with system operation guidance

Preferred but Not Required

  • Experience with commissioning and re-commissioning VRV systems post-install
  • Familiarity with BACnet/Modbus integration or BMS system interaction
  • Exposure to rooftop OAUs or integrated ventilation tied to VRV systems
