HVAC Services for Central Florida Homes
Repairs, installations, maintenance, and ductless systems from a Kalos technician who actually answers the phone.
Florida summers do not negotiate. When your AC quits, you need a contractor who shows up when they say they will, tells you the truth about what is wrong, and fixes it right. That has been our standard since 2005.

Air conditioning does not need to be a pain
Florida heat is not a casual relationship.
Nothing quite as annoying as a Florida summer when you begin to notice the temperature rising only to see that the thermostat is not reaching set point or worse, the thermostat is blank. Now what?
You want it fixed quickly and as inexpensively as possible, and you want the system not to break again for a very long time. We understand. In Florida, having an air conditioning contractor you can trust is a necessity, not a luxury. Whether you are a homeowner, commercial builder, or property manager, we can help with any HVAC maintenance, repair, or replacement.
Kalos has been well known in Central Florida for two decades because of integrity and the quality of the work. The technician at your door is a Kalos employee. Licensed. Insured. Background-checked. Trained in-house through one of the most respected HVAC training programs in the country. No subcontractors. No bait and switch. Just the right answer the first time.
That is where Kalos comes in. We have spent two decades keeping Central Florida homes comfortable, built on showing up, telling the truth, and fixing things right the first time.

AC Repairs
When your AC quits, you need a real diagnosis fast. Our techs cover compressor service, refrigerant leaks and recharge, capacitor and contactor replacement, fan motors, thermostat issues, and electrical faults. 24/7 emergency service. Same-day or next-day in most cases.
AC Installation & Replacement
A properly-sized new system is the difference between 15 years of comfort and a constant headache. We measure your home, do a real load calculation, and recommend the right system for your space. Carrier Authorized Dealer pricing. Financing available.
AC Maintenance
A 21-point tune-up catches the small stuff before it grows. Refrigerant levels, capacitor health, drain line clearing, electrical connections, airflow, and a system performance report. Done twice a year keeps Florida AC systems running well past the warranty.
Ductless & Mini-Splits
Most contractors hand off ductless because the install is finicky and the margins are thin. We have made it a specialty. Garage conversions, additions, sunrooms, multi-zone systems, hot back rooms. If you have a space your main system cannot reach, this is what fixes it.
Heat Pumps
Florida gets 10-15 cold snaps a year that catch homes with electric resistance heat off guard. Modern heat pumps cool in summer and heat in winter, more efficiently than the old setup. We service, repair, and install all major heat pump brands.
Indoor Air Quality
Your AC cools the air. It does not necessarily clean it. Whole-home filtration (MERV 13 and above), UV light systems for mold and mildew, dehumidifiers for Florida humidity, and full air quality assessments. The work that makes the inside of your home actually healthy.
Ductwork
Ductwork is the silent killer of HVAC efficiency. Leaks, poor design, undersized runs, and aging insulation all hurt comfort and run up your bill. We diagnose, repair, replace, and design ductwork for Florida homes with uneven cooling, weak airflow, or chronic humidity issues.

The ductless installation other contractors will not touch.
Ductless mini-splits are deceptively hard to do well. Most contractors hand them off because the install is finicky and the margins are thin. We have made ductless a specialty. Our in-house training program covers proper line-set routing, refrigerant management, condensate handling, and the specific design patterns that work in Florida humidity.
If you have a garage you want to use year-round, an addition the original ducts cannot reach, a sunroom that runs hot, or a back unit your main system cannot keep up with, this is where we live.
Where ductless makes sense
- Converted garages and workshops
- Home additions the duct system cannot reach
- Sunrooms and Florida rooms
- Detached buildings, MIL suites, casitas
- Zoned cooling for hot/cold rooms
- Older homes with no usable duct layout
- Energy-efficient cooling for one or two rooms
- Multi-zone systems with up to 8 indoor heads
How we train the technician at your door
The Kalos HVAC training program.
Kalos technicians don’t show up to your home green. They show up with a three-year apprentice program behind them, including two nights a week at Lake Technical College throughout the school year, paired ride-alongs with senior techs, and continual internal training led by our most experienced people.
Our co-founder Bryan Orr hosts the HVAC School podcast, which trains HVAC technicians across the country. The same training that thousands of techs nationwide listen to is the training behind every diagnosis we make in your home.
Investing in our own people is how we control quality. There is no other way.

Signs you need HVAC service
What to look out for.
Catching small problems early can save you from much bigger ones later. If you are seeing any of these, it is worth a call.
Warm air from the vents
The system is running but the air coming out is not cold. Could be refrigerant, the compressor, or a thermostat issue.
Strange noises
Banging, hissing, buzzing, or grinding usually means something inside has come loose, leaked, or burned out.
Weak airflow
Air is barely moving through the vents. Blower motor, ductwork, clogged filter, or coil issue.
Short cycling
The system turns on and off too frequently. Drives up your bill and wears the system out fast.
Water leaks or musty smell
A clogged condensate line or cracked drip pan can flood. The musty smell is usually right behind it.
Spike in your power bill
An AC working harder than it should is an AC heading for a breakdown. Early sign worth catching.
Uneven cooling
One room is freezing, the next is sweltering. Usually ductwork, system sizing, or zoning.
High humidity inside
Florida humidity beats most AC systems if they are oversized or undersized. The AC should dehumidify, not just cool.
System is older than 10 years
Not a symptom, but worth knowing. Modern systems are 30%+ more efficient and pay back the upgrade fast.
Florida HVAC essentials
What every Florida homeowner should know.
The questions we get asked most. Honest answers, no marketing fluff.
How long does an AC system last in Florida?
10 to 15 years is the typical lifespan for a residential AC in Central Florida, but Florida AC systems work harder than systems in cooler climates. A well-maintained system reaches the upper end of that range. A neglected system fails closer to year 8. If your system is over 10 years old and starting to need repairs more than once a year, it is worth getting a free assessment to compare repair costs against the long-term savings of a new high-efficiency unit.
How often should I change my filter?
Every 90 days for a basic 1-inch filter is the standard cadence in Central Florida. If you have pets, allergies, or run the AC heavily, every 60 days is better. A clogged filter makes your AC work 5-15% harder, which drives up your power bill and shortens the life of the system. It is the single cheapest thing you can do to protect your investment.
When should I repair vs. replace?
A few rules of thumb. If your system is over 10 years old, if repairs are happening more than once a year, or if a single repair would cost more than half the price of a new system, replacement is usually the smarter call. Modern high-efficiency systems are 30%+ more efficient than systems from 15 years ago. The energy savings often pay back the upgrade within 5-7 years.
Why is my power bill so high?
In Central Florida, the AC is the single biggest driver of your power bill. The most common reasons a bill spikes are a clogged filter, low refrigerant, a struggling compressor, or duct leaks. A 21-point AC tune-up catches all four of these issues. Catching them early is the difference between a $150 tune-up and a $600 emergency repair.
Why is my house humid even with the AC running?
Florida humidity beats most AC systems if they are oversized, undersized, or running with leaky ducts. An AC's job is to cool AND dehumidify. If it is doing one but not the other, the system is probably mis-sized for the home. This is one of the most common Florida HVAC problems. Whole-home dehumidifiers solve it. Properly-sized systems prevent it.
Is a heat pump worth it in Florida?
Yes, especially for the 10-15 cold snaps a year that catch most Florida homes off guard. Heat pumps cool in the summer and heat in the cooler months, all from one efficient system. Modern heat pumps are dramatically more efficient than the electric resistance heat strips most older Florida homes use. The upgrade pays back in lower winter power bills.

"Within two hours my AC was working."
I called when my AC unit broke down and Ronnie arrived within the hour. He explained the what and the why of what happened in terms I understood. He was polite and professional plus he was wearing a mask. Within two hours my AC was working. I highly recommend Kalos and Ronnie.

★★★★★
"They were the only ones who measured my home."
Kalos did a fantastic job at installing my 2 A/C systems. I got 8 different quotes and not only were they the second lowest price, but Tyler was the only one who measured my home to make sure the new system would be balanced. The inspector said he had not seen such a good job done before in Polk County.

Do you service ductless mini-split systems?
Yes, and we specialize in them. Ductless installations are a Kalos specialty. We do garage conversions, additions, sunrooms, detached buildings, and multi-zone systems with up to 8 indoor heads. We service Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Daikin, Samsung, and others.
Should I repair my AC or replace it?
A few rules of thumb: if your system is over 10 years old, if repairs are happening more than once a year, or if a single repair would cost more than half the price of a new system, replacement is usually the smarter call. Modern systems are 30%+ more efficient, so the energy savings pay back the upgrade fast. We will walk you through both options honestly.
What AC brands do you service?
All major brands. We are a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, but our technicians are trained to service Lennox, Trane, York, Bryant, Rheem, Goodman, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Daikin, and most other systems on the market.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency AC service?
Yes. Call (352) 243-7099 any time. You will reach a live person. For emergency HVAC, plumbing, or electrical issues, we will dispatch a Kalos technician as soon as possible.
Do you charge for an estimate?
Free estimates on new installations (AC replacement, system upgrades, ductwork projects). For diagnostic visits on a broken system, there is a service-call fee that covers the technician's time and equipment. If you move forward with the repair, the diagnostic fee is applied to the cost of the work.
Are your technicians licensed and insured?
Yes. Every Kalos technician is fully licensed, insured, and background-checked. We do not subcontract. The person at your door is a Kalos employee and accountable to Kalos. Florida HVAC license CAC1814620.
How often should I have my AC serviced?
Twice a year, ideally before peak summer and before any cold snaps. Regular maintenance catches small issues before they become expensive ones and keeps the system running efficiently. Ask about our maintenance plans when we are out at your house.
