Your AC will usually tell you something is wrong.
Some AC problems are obvious. Others start small. If you notice any of these changes, it's worth having the system looked at before the problem gets worse.
Loud or Unusual Noises
Banging, hissing, buzzing, grinding or rattling can point to anything from a loose component to an electrical or refrigerant issue. The sound itself doesn't always tell the whole story, so it's worth having it diagnosed.
Warm Air from The Vents
If the system is running but only blowing warm air, it could be a low refrigerant charge, a failing compressor, or a thermostat that is out of calibration.
Water Leaks Or Musty Smells
Central Florida's humidity means your AC removes a lot of moisture from the air. A clogged condensate drain or drainage problem can cause water to back up around the system and sometimes into your home.
System Cycling On And Off
Frequent cycling can be caused by several different problems, including airflow restrictions, electrical components, controls or system conditions that need to be diagnosed.
Weak Airflow
If the air coming out of the vents has slowed to a trickle, the blower motor, the ductwork, or a clogged filter is usually the culprit.
Frozen Evaporator Coils
Ice on the coils means the system cannot transfer heat properly. Restricted airflow and refrigerant issues are the two most common causes.
Thermostat Not Responding
If the thermostat is unresponsive or showing the wrong temperature, the cooling cycle gets thrown off entirely. Sometimes the fix is simple, sometimes it is not.
Higher-than-normal Electric Bills

Capacitors
CommonCapacitors help provide the electrical energy motors need to start and run. When one fails, you may hear humming or clicking, experience intermittent operation or have a system that won't start at all.

Contactors
A contactor is an electrical switch that controls power to major components in the outdoor unit. A worn or failed contactor can cause intermittent operation, buzzing or a system that won't run.

Fan Motors
Fan motors move air where it needs to go, whether that's across the indoor coil or through the outdoor condenser. When a motor begins failing, you may notice poor airflow, unusual noises or problems with cooling.

Evaporator Coils
The evaporator coil absorbs the heat from your home's air. Dirty or damaged coils mean your system has to work harder for less cooling.

Should I repair my AC or replace it?
There isn't one rule that works for every system. We look at the age and condition of the equipment, repair history, type and cost of the current repair, efficiency, warranty coverage and the overall condition of the system. We'll explain what we see so you can decide whether repairing or replacing makes more sense for your home.
Do you charge for an estimate?
Estimates for replacement or installation projects may be different from diagnostic service on an existing system. A service call for an AC that isn't working includes a diagnostic fee to cover the technician's time and testing.
Are your technicians licensed and insured?
